What a cast!!!

A favorite pastime of mine is casting the roles of my family and friends in the movie of my life. I use a complex combination of physical traits, past roles of the actor, and perceived personality. I realize you probably haven't heard much about this flick yet. It is still in early early pre-pre-production. Anyway...on to the dreamcast! Let me know if you agree or disagree with any choices. There's still time to change most of them, as contracts have not been finalized. If you aren't on the list, it's not because you aren't important enough to be in the film. I just haven't figured out who should play your complex role yet.

Me: Anthony Michael Hall or Neil Patrick Harris (someone w/3 names)
Kara: a young Audrey Hepburn or Vivien Leigh or Evangeline Lilly
My Dad: Bruce Willis
My Mom: Joan Allen or Meryl Streep
Kara's Dad: Tommy Lee Jones
Kara's Mom: Dame Judi Dench
Sarah: Mary Stuart Masterson
Easy: Rob Thomas (yeah the singer, maybe he can act too) or Adam Sandler
Krissy: Meg Ryan
Victor: Nic Cage
Keith: Larry Hagman (circa I Dream of Jeanie days)
Julie: Tea Leoni
Mason: Brent and Shane Kinsman
Richard: Duane "The Rock" Johnson (after he drops about 100 lbs. of muscle)
Brad: Kevin James (need an athletic big man, and the King of Queens can MOVE)
Tanya: Eva Longoria
Trey: James Marsden or Ian Somerhalder
Darby: Kara votes for Mayim Bialik
Ty: Chad Michael Murray
Troy: Tobey Maguire or Peter Sarsgaard
Elizabeth: Bridget Fonda
Frankie (my neighbor): Bernie Mac
Sherie (Frankie's wife): younger Sally Field
Jelene (co-worker): Leah Remini
Ben (co-worker): George Eads (CSI guy)
Kyle M: young Ron Howard
Bill E:Tom Hanks
David S: Jeff Foxworthy

Add your suggestions, and lets get this project greenlighted. Or greenlit? Whatever.

Your list is really impressive. I'd say you have done a good job. I think I vote for Meryl Streep. Mainly because I have seen her more in interviews and I think we have a similar sense of humor. :)

First of all, I'm thrilled to have made your list. While I may have once been a Ron Howard, unfortunately I'm up to a hefty Phillip Seymor Hoffman or Andy Richter. You are definitely Anthony Michael Hall. The Dooleys, perfect as Judy Dench and Tommy Lee Jones. The only one that I would change (of the people I know) would be your dad. Definitly I'm thinking Skip is more Billy Bob Thornton than Bruce Willis.

Amanda and I celebrated 3 years on the 20th of July. A happy anniversary to you and Kara. I remember when y'all first got together. Ah, the memories.

I'm trying to picture Meryl with Billy Bob. Interesting....

Great choices (the ones I know...guess it helps to have run blockbuster for as many years as you did!) I could definitely see Meryl Streep playing your mom.

It was fun to think of back when you and Kara started dating...I remember that the first time I knew anything about the two of you being an item was on the night of the last devo before our family moved to North Carolina in 1992. Great memories.

One question, how's the budget going for the film? That's gonna take some green to get some of those actors signed up!!!

I am so pleased that Adam made the cut for Easy. I happen to be a HUGE Adam fan. You are also the third person to draw a comparison between my Smooch and Rob Thomas. You must stop this. He has been told that Mr. Thomas is a hottie and if people keep saying they look alike his head might not fit in our house! You might also consider James Spader for his part. Did you catch him in Boston Legal last season?

I personally have alway seen Sandra Bullock playing me. She plays a pretty good dorky quirky girl that generally comes through with character in the end. I realize however that the beauty aspect might be an overshot. Perhaps MSM is a better choice now that I think of it. I've also been told that Genevive Gorder (from Trading Spaces) makes a good Sarah.

I don't care what Kyle says. No Angelina marrying blood vile wearing tatooted up FREAK is playing my Dad! I think Bruce is an exccellent choice, or perhaps Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson.

Now, what about Nana? I think that fiesty old gal from Golden Girls would be perfect. (Dorothy's Mom) What do you think?

Nana is on the list of tough choices. I could see Estelle Getty or even Golden Girl alum Betty White.

I have a hard time letting go of Betty White's dingy character. Nana is way to smart for that.

Skip is SO Billy Bob Thornton...minus the cussing and multiple marriages.

You know David S. and Jeff Foxworthy are the same person, don't you??!!

Skip does not have a blog, so I am allowing him to respond under my name. Here goes:

Thank you all for being so kind to an old man. I see playing Matt's dad, the one and only Oliver North. A true patriot and warrior that does not flow with the Hollywood crowd. Yea, he's made boo-boos in his life, but so have I. Thank you all again for being so kind.

Now, back to Nellie:

Sorry, guys, but Billy Bob will just not work for Skip. You obviously don't know Skip like I know Skip. :)

Another suggestion for Nana would be what's her name Dukakis. Sorry, I'm having a senior moment on the first name. I'm thinking of her role in "Steel Magnolias." She made a good, gutsy southern broad with a sense of humor. Oh wait, I think I remember - Olympia Dukakis?

I could see Armageddon Billy Bob as ol' Skip. Other recent developments include:

DaddyBill: Fred Thompson (Law & Order and numerous movies)

Papa: Robert Duvall or James Brolin (tough one)

Bebe: Ellen Dow (Rapping granny from Wedding Singer)

Mister Jerry Griffin: Jason Alexander OR Jeremy Piven

Emily Griffin: Lisa Loeb (she's got to have a voice)

Alison White:Anne Hathaway

Amanda Martin:Christine Taylor

Chad Nall: maybe Bill Paxton?

Deana Nall: a young Bonnie Hunt (I think she is hilarious...both of them)

Okay, if you go to Armageddon for Billy Bob, then I can see it. Otherwise, it just doesn't work for me.

Great choice for Daddy Bill! Your other suggestions are good as well. I lean towards Robert Duvall for Papa. Maybe because I know he LOVED him in "Lonesome Dove."

Definitely Bonnie Hunt for Deana!

Your dad suggested Bette Davis as a possibility for Bebe. Good call if you consider her in her later years.

I agree on Bette Davis for Bebe. I honestly forgot BBT was in Armageddon. I guess I can see that, but I still prefer Bruce.

I like your other casting choices.

Now, who will be playing my children?

At 4:49 PM, Blogger MDH said...

Kids are hard to cast, young ones even more so.

Carly Dooley: Dakota Fanning

B-rock P-aulk: Ric "don't call me Ricky" Schroder

Eric Ehlig: Jake Gyllenhaal

Kirk Ehlig: Jeremy Davies

Larry Whitley: Albert Finney

Mom and Nana decided this weekend that the Quizno's baby should play Tripp.

At 1:43 PM, Blogger MDH said...

And Tripp will play me as a baby.

At 2:13 PM, Blogger sarahdawn said...

Indeed. When he flashes that big mouth grin I swear I'm looking at your baby pictures! He cut another tooth today and got a real haircut two days ago. He looks like such a little man!
